WHO IS MAJOR TAYLOR

Honoring the world's first black sports superstar and professional Black American cyclist - Marshall Walter "Major" Taylor. In 1899, he earned the rank of the world cycling champion followed by the American sprint champion in 1900. Major Taylor fought the racism of the Jim Crow era, and today his achievements and story have inspired many to take up the sport of cycling.

The Major Taylor Cycling Club of Austin is an associated club of the Major Taylor Association (MTA).
 

We are dedicated to honoring Major Taylor's legacy as a champion cyclist and humanitarian. Our group is diverse and we offer short leisurely rides for those just getting started and faster challenging rides for those ready for the next level.
 

Our Mission is to Promote a Healthy Lifestyle, Encourage Camaraderie and Instill a Sense of Community Amongst Fellow Cyclists
